LRN Launches Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) to Enhance Independent Research and Critical Thinking Skills for Students Aged 16-19

LRN (Learning Resource Network) has recently launched its Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), designed to foster independent research, critical thinking, and project management skills in students aged 16-19. The qualification offers three project types:

1. Disquisition Project: Focuses on research and critical analysis, where students produce a formal written document.

2. Exploration Project: Involves practical research, such as field studies or experimental work, emphasizing primary data collection and analysis.

3. Artistic Project: Allows students to engage in a creative process, developing original works and focusing on artistic development and problem-solving.

The LRN EPQ helps learners prepare for higher education and professional environments by developing key skills like planning, research, and presentation. It’s assessed across four objectives, which cover managing the project, investigating and using resources, realizing the project, and reviewing the outcomes. This qualification provides flexibility, allowing students to explore topics outside their usual curriculum, promoting both intellectual curiosity and practical skill development.

The EPQ is graded from A* to E and is structured to offer an introductory experience in project-based learning, especially beneficial for students new to this approach. It’s an ideal preparation for university-level work and professional life.
